Lion The lion is a ruler, a tyrant, or a powerful and very dangerous person, in view of the ferocity and devastating anger of that animal. It also symbolizes the warrior, the swindler, the thief, the treacherous worker, the policeman, the insatiable enemy, and perhaps hardships and death, because he who stares at it turns pale, loses his self-control, and is as good as dead, says Ibn Siren. Furthermore, it represents the ruler who embezzles public funds and commits injustice and the lurking enemy. The lioness symbolizes the daughter of a king. The baby lion (lion’s whelp or cub) is a boy. A man told Ibn Siren, “I dreamed that I was embracing and nursing a baby lion.” When the great seer looked at him, saw his humble appearance and miserable garments, and understood that he could not be eligible for any honour, he said, “What could you possibly have to do with the children of princes?!” and he added, “Is your wife, by chance, breast-feeding the son of a prince?” “Yes,” was the reply. Sheep • Milking sheep and taking their wool: Money from the subjects.

Child birth (Giving birth) Seeing one's wife giving birth to a baby son in a dream when in fact she is not pregnant means wealth. If a pregnant woman sees herself giving birth to a baby girl in a dream, it means a boy, and if she gives birth to a boy in the dream, it means a girl. Giving birth to a girl means relief from distress, while giving birth to a boy in the dream means distress and worries. If a sick person sees his mother giving birth to him in a dream, it means the approach of his death, for a deceased person is wrapped in a shroud, while a newborn is wrapped with a receiving cloth. Shaving Shaving one's hair in a dream relates to one's personal customs. If he is used to have short hair and sees himself shaving his head in a dream, it means that he will pay a fine as an atonement. If he sees his head shaved in the summertime, and if he is used to doing so, it means benefits, comfort, or recovering from a migraine headache. If one sees his hair shaved during the winter in a dream, it means difficulties, adversities, penalties, or a sickness. Shaving one's head in a dream also means paying one's dues, appeasement of one's fears, and success in one's life. Shortening one's hair in a dream also means appeasing his fears. Meat Eating the flesh of a human being in a dream means backbiting him. Eating one's own flesh in a dream means earning money from one's own sweat. If a woman eats the flesh of another woman in a dream, it means that they are lesbians. If a woman eats her own flesh in a dream, it means that she will commit adultery. The meat of a yellow cow in a dream means illness. The cooked meat of a snake in a dream means receiving money from one's enemy. The uncooked flesh of a snake in a dream means slandering one's enemy. Market The unspecified market refers to the mosque and vice versa, because man trades and earns in both.39 It also refers to the battlefield, where some people win and others lose. In the Holy Quran, God has used the word commerce as a synonym for Jihad (holy struggle): “O ye who believe! Shall I show you a commerce that will save you from a painful doom?” (“Al-Saff’ [The Ranks], verse 10.) Likewise, the souk or marketplace could allude to the person’s luck commensurate with the size of the market; the learning institution; the asylum; and the pilgrimage season. The meat market, in particular, symbolizes the war zone. The jewel and the cloth markets represent commemoration ceremonies and learning establishments. The money changers market is a reference to the ruler’s court, where people weigh what they say and matters are evaluated carefully. Sometimes souks represent lies, injustice, worries, and misery. They allude as well to the sea, where the big fish eat the small fish, and to compulsory spending, as often brought about by spouses, or marriage itself, and the birth of new children. Indeed, each specific market has a different interpretation. But it is noteworthy that the Muslims Holy Prophet was said to consider the souk as the abode of devils. Atonement (Expiation; Penance; Requital) Atonement, distribution of gifts or charities as penance for one's sins in a dream means payment of one's debts, delivering a trust to its rightful owner, paying a fine or reciprocating an invitation. (Also see Tithe collector) Dream Interpreter: Ibn Sirin
Fig A fig tree represents a good harvest or increase in children for one who eats from it in a dream, or it could represent a wealthy person who benefits his community. Even his enemies will come to benefit from him, because many types of snakes live on a fig tree. No other fruit equals figs in benefits. Figs represent earnings without difficulties and it shows. Fig A fig means plenty of money or money from Iraq. A fig tree refers to a man full of money and a philanthropist but to whom the enemies of Islam turn, because such a tree usually shelters snakes. Most interpreters like those dreams involving figs, because Allah swore by it in the Holy Quran when He said, “By the fig and the olive, by Mount Sinai, and by this land made safe; surely We created man of the best stature” (“Al-Tin” [The Fig], verses 1–4.) Mold (Cast; Form) In a dream, a mold represents what it is made for. A silver casting mold in a dream means profits. Pastry molds in a dream also denote profits. A shoe mold in a dream represents the property one walks on, and a mold for a hat represents the leading person, or the head of a business, or the head of a household. Stuffed Turkey (Stuffed fish; Stuffed lam; Stuffing) In a dream, a stuffed turkey means holdings, reserves, profits from an investment, marriage, a festive dinner, or it could mean recovering from an illness. Hair If one sees the hair in the back of his head dishevelled or rumpled in a dream, it means that he will suffer humiliation. If he sees his hair on the right side of his head tousled in a dream, it means that he will molest male children from among his relatives. If he sees his hair on the left side of his head tousled, or dishevelled in a dream, it means that he will molest female children from among his relatives. If one does not have relatives, it means that he will suffer harm from his evil actions. If one sees long hair under his armpit in a dream, it means he will attain his goal, or it could denote his generous character. If he sees it thick in a dream, it denotes his thirst for knowledge, search for a business, or profiting through patience and endurance. Candy (Cash) In a dream, a candy signifies hard earned money, release from prison, recovering from an illness, delivering a child, or it could mean enrolling in a school to acquire knowledge or to learn a trade. Candy in a dream also means cash. Dream Interpreter: Ibn Sirin
Profligacy (Dissolute; Immoral; Shameless) In a dream, profligacy signifies ingratitude, disbelief, or denial of the truth. Psalms of David In a dream, the Psalms of Allah's prophet David (Alayhi-Salam) represent wailing, lamentation, crying, repentance, fear of wrongdoing, devotion, harmony between people, unity, good luck, flute music and percussions, learning about strange news, or earning one's livelihood from reciting poems, or from delivering sermons. Mountain • Falling from a mountain, a roof, a tree, and the like: Separation from whomever such a high place symbolizes according to the code of dreams. The subject himself should be consulted by the interpreter to know what, in his view, the mountain or tree, et cetera, could refer to and what his aspirations are. It could also mean that the dreamer will fall down by committing sins or to where intriguers are lying in wait for him, especially if he had fallen on ferocious beasts, crows, snakes, rodents, or garbage. Prematurity (Also look under Beard.) Prematurity is not favoured by the interpreters of dreams, except for the ability to speak early, because, says Ibn Siren, man is a talking animal. So the act is more or less natural. But for the rest it heralds a scandal or death. Bad dreams of that kind involve, for example, little children with beards, getting married, or kids having a baby.
