Asylum The asylum, or mental institution, symbolizes frequent travel, asceticism, the heeding of God and reading of the Holy Quran, the stoppage of income, the end of wedlock, the abandoning of children, repentances, the return of religious faith, relief from worries, and sometimes diphtheria (the suffocation disease, to borrow the expression of Al-Nabulsi). It could also represent the bathroom, as madness was believed by the ancient Arabs to be associated with demons and because, like the bathroom, the mental institution is a place where people take off their clothes, show their private parts, and exhibit repulsive manners. For some interpreters, the madhouse refers to the school, because, there, the inpatients were educated by force, in ancient times, and taught to read and write and know the Quran. Joseph Seeing Joseph (Alayhi-Salam) as a young boy in a dream means having little or no luck with one's brethren. He will be lied to, suffer from imprisonment and other trials before he recuperates, to rise and triumph over them. They will all then become his subject. One who sees Allah's prophet Joseph (Alayhi-Salam) in a dream will also be a pious, generous, charitable, and shares his good advice with those who need it, or ask for it. If Joseph (Alayhi-Salam) talks to someone, or gives him something in a dream, it means that one will understand dream interpretations and learn about Chronicles, or the two biblical books of History. Blacksmith To be brought before a blacksmith in a dream means an accident that will bring one before a person in authority for intercession. Otherwise, it could mean seeking the fellowship of a worthless person. If one sees a sick or a deceased person sitting with a blacksmith in a dream, it means that he is in hell, and particularly when his face is blackened from the smoke, or it could mean that he may be imprisoned. Grape However, in interpreting such dreams special care should be given to the season in which the dream took place. Was it the time when vineyards blossom? Was it the harvesting season? Was it the period of the year when the vineyards go dry? The fate of the dream or of the person dreamed of will depend on those vagaries.
• Having a dream involving grapes and a certain woman during the bad season: (1) If that woman is ill, she will die. (2) If pregnant, she will give birth to a girl.
• A bachelor dreaming of owning a vineyard: (1) Will marry a nice woman. (2) Will be in the good books of a philanthropist.

Stretcher (Dolly; Litter) In a dream, a stretcher or a dolly represents a hardworking man who earns his livelihood through toiling and sufferings. There are no advantages in seeing a stretcher in a dream and particularly if one is brought before a sick person, then it means his death and departure from this world. Knife The knife refers to the dreamer’s servant or whoever looks after or fights for his interests, like his friend or bondsman. Its sharpness represents the implementation of the dreamer’s will. The slaughterer’s knife alludes to a butcher, the soldier’s knife to power and discipline, and the table knife to a polite boy, but one who cheats in his work. The knife could also symbolize evidence or a convincing argument or a writer, since writers use knives to open the pages of their books.
• A knife entering in its sheath: Will penetrate a woman.
• A bachelor obtaining a knife: Will get married.

The Casulaties of Uhud and The Conquest of Mecca Narrated Abu Musa: The Prophet (Sallallaahu-Alayhi-wasallam) said, "I saw in a dream that I waved a sword and it broke in the middle, and behold, that symbolized the casualties the believers suffered on the Day (of the battle) of Uhud. Then I waved the sword again, and it became better than it had ever been before, and behold, that symbolized the Conquest (of Mecca) which Allah brought about and the gathering of the believers. Dates Dates symbolize the reading of the Holy Quran, good religious faith, rain, general and honest welfare, and savings.
• Eating high-quality dates: Will hear something good and useful.
• Buying dates: Will save money or receive money from some safe or treasury.
• Opening a date and removing its pit: Will have a child, in view of a verse in the Holy Quran: “Lo! Allah (it is) Who splitteth the grain of corn and the date-stone (for sprouting). He bringeth forth the living from the dead, and is The bringer-forth of the dead from the living. Such is Allah. How then are ye perverted?” (“Al-Anam” [Cattle], verse 95.)

Mosque Its lights represent the noble retinue and the wise men of his epoch. The ceiling represents the knowledge contained in the books that protect his justice and his references. The minaret will then represent his chief minister or advisor. The pulpit represents his servant. The prayer niche represents his wife, or it may represent his lawful earnings, or a righteous and a chaste wife. If one sees a mosque burning in a dream, it means death, losses and political changes in the country. The main mosque of the town also represents the pious people dwelling therein, the men of knowledge, the wise men, devotion, or a hermitage. Its niche represents the leader of the people (Imam). Pilgrimage Areas Dreaming of being on the Day of Arafa (part of the Muslim pilgrimage rites to commemorate the day on which God brought together Adam and Eve) means: (1) The dreamer will resume his support of his parents and in-laws. (2) The dreamer will conclude peace after a dispute, (3) The dreamer will see his enemy humiliated, Zamzam Dreaming of drinking water from the Zamzam well in Mecca (Makkah) means one will obtain what he desires and enjoy welfare. Throne Of Almighty God The Divine Seat itself is a reference to learning and science or a wise man. The Throne could also allude to a just and pious king, an ascetic and nearly perfect person, or a great prince.
• Seeing the Divine Throne ornamented: The dreamer will befriend a prestigious person who will bring him prosperity and influence.
• Seeing the Divine Throne ornamented and colourful: The dreamer will befriend noble, knowledgeable, and generous leaders and be elevated in life.

Silver • Seeing one’s wife wearing two earrings of gold and silver or one of gold and the other of silver: The dreamer will divorce her. A man once went to a dream interpreter and told him, “I dreamed that my wife was wearing a ring, half gold and half silver.” The interpreter said, “You divorced her twice, and there remains only the last time.” “Yes,” conceded the man.
• A man seeing himself wearing a silver earring: He will memorize all the Holy Quran. If the man is honest, he will have beautiful maids, in view of a verse in the Holy Quran that says: “Round about them will serve, (devoted) to the, youths (handsome) as pearls well-guarded.” (“Al-Tur” [The Mount], verse 24) , and other verses that say: “And (there will be) companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes, like unto pearls well-guarded.” (“Al-Waqiah” [The Event], verses 22–23.) Shaving the Head Dreaming of oneself as having shaved one's head during the month of Hajj is a glad tiding that one will proceed for Hajj. But if such a dream is seen during any other month besides Hajj it means that his capital (in monetary terms) will become exhausted. (This will be discussed in greater detail in this book).
