Engraver (Goldsmith; Leather craftsman; or any craft using a hammer and a chisel.) An engraver in a dream represents knowledge and pursuit of the prophetic traditions. In a dream, an engraver also means deception, trickery and imposing credulity upon others through dishonesty. A stone carver in a dream represents someone who deals with people of ignorance. A copper engraver represents disputes and illness. Gold and silver engraver in a dream represents clear wisdom and putting things where they belong. An engraver in a dream also represents a worldly person. If he also deals with fabrics in the dream, it means that he is a peacemaker. To shower someone with money in a dream means listening to a filthy conversation, or impersonating someone. Money in a dream also means vain talk, or missing one's prayers. If one sees himself swallowing a coin of money in a dream, it means that he will betray his trust. Money in a dream is also interpreted as knowledge, faith, guidance, or becoming a government employee. Giving money away in a dream means dispelling agony, difficulties or burdens. Call to prayers (Azan; Muezzin) Hearing the call to prayers in a dream denotes the pilgrimage season or announces its holy months. It also may indicate backbiting, a theft, announcing a major move or blowing the trumpets of war, or it could denote rank and honor or obeyed commands of the one seeing the dream, or perhaps announcing a wife for an unmarried man, and it could mean telling the truth. Hearing the call to prayers in a language other than the Arabic in which it was revealed in a dream means lies and backbiting. If one sees a woman calling to prayers, standing on the top of a minaret in a dream, it means innovation and trials. If children give the call to prayers in a dream, it means that people filled with ignorance will rule the land. This is particularly true when the call is made outside the proper time. Speaking Animal talk in a dream denotes leaning toward friendships and finding peace in the company of pious people, or it could mean working to earn one's livelihood. If a wall speaks to someone in a dream, it means a warning of separation, or it could mean renouncing the city and seeking to live in the wilderness, near uninhabited ruins, or near a graveyard. Hearing a voice commanding one to do something in a dream means glad tidings. Hearing Allah Almighty on the Day of Judgement in a dream means rising in station, performing good deeds and nearness to one's Lord. Listening to the Holy Words of Allah Almighty in a dream also denotes the spread of justice and righteousness, and such a dream could represent a ruler who cares for his subjects. Resurrection If a warrior sees the Day of Resurrection in a dream, it means that by Allah's decree, the aggressor shall be defeated. The land of the grand gathering in a dream represents a chaste woman or a noble man. The blowing of the Trumpet of Resurrection in a dream represents the salvation of the righteous ones. Seeing any of the great extraordinary events or signs that shall precede the Day of resurrection in a dream means glad tidings for a believer who does good, and a warning for a disbeliever to correct himself and repent for his sins before its coming. Seeing the Day of Resurrection in a dream also denotes that some of the major signs are actually taking place, such as blood shedding, spread of evil, belligerence of atheism, pride about wealth, ruling of the working class, building high rises, the end of the era of kings on earth, or it could remind the person of the prophesied signs, such as the rising of the sun from the West, the emergence of a beast that will speak with a human tongue, the rising of the Imposter (arb. Wine If he buys wine or presses it in the dream, it means that he will foster religious distortion, an act that will cause him to suffer from a curse. Wine in a dream also represents lies, prattle, divulging secrets, adultery or crimes. Drinking wine in a competition or for fun in a dream means loss of one's money or child. If the person is a hard-working laborer, it means that he may experience some temporary comfort, or that he may marry an older woman. Drinking wine in a dream also means suffering from a state of stupor. Seeing a departed person drinking nonintoxicating wine with joy in a dream means that he is dwelling in paradise. This is only true if he was not in the habit of drinking alcohol in this world. However, wine in a dream could be a good sign for one who is intending to get married, because of its water content. Balance The money put on a scale for measuring represents the lawsuits, and the weights represent the judgment. If one sees himself standing before Allah Almighty on Judgment Day and if his good deeds weigh heavier than his sins in the dream, it means that he will reckon himself, reflect about his bad actions and correct the course of his life. Consequently, his reward in the hereafter will be greater. Seeing the Balance of the Day of Judgement in a dream means vulnerability of people's secrets, exposing one's actions in public, recognition of the ultimate truth, joy, happiness, victory and justice. If one's deeds are praiseworthy, then he will be a winner. If one's deeds are blameworthy, then he will be a loser. In general, a balance in a dream represents a guide, an example to follow, a scholar one seeks to learn at his hand, a ruler, a criterion and the Quran. Back If one sees himself carrying a heavy load on his back in a dream, it means debts, or a vicious neighbor. A broken back in a dream means losing one's strength and power, or it could mean one's death. If a sick person sees his back broken in a dream, it means that the person who is taking care of him may die shortly, or it could mean that he will suffer from poverty. Carrying burdens over one's back in a dream means sins. Carrying a coffin or a load of merchandise over one's back in a dream means carrying forgotten debts that will surface at awkward times. Carrying wood over one's back in a dream means backbiting, slandering people and reporting lies. Carrying a heavy load over one's back in a dream also means having many children with little money to sustain them. Sorcerer Sorcery and sorcerers refer to unjust statements, lies, dissension, machinations, devilish temptation, vanity, atheism, and the like or the separation of a married couple. They also symbolize ugly acts and baseless, unable, and mean business. The sorcerer or witch is an unfair, untrustworthy, wicked, and cruel enemy. The word sehr, Arabic for sorcery, is almost a homonym of sahar, the last sequence in dreaming before the break of day. Hence dreaming of that kind of dawn means that the dreamer will somehow be involved in magic, in either way, or will commit a sin for which he will have to implore God’s mercy, bearing in mind the Quranic verse: “… and ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness.” (“Al-Dhariyat” [The Winnowing Winds], verse 18.) That period of the night is also said to be the one when dreams are most likely to come true. The word is also close to sohoor, the very late meal that those who fast during the holy month of Ramadan take. In dreams it means that the hero will render his enemies mad; that he will repent if he disobeyed God’s commandments, that he will return to the right path, if an atheist, or that he will become prosperous. Thunder Hearing the sound of thunder at the end of March in a dream means famines, destruction, or that a swarm of locusts may devastate the lands, or it could mean a drought that will kill African cattle. Also in this type of dreams, if the sound of thunder is heard on the twenty first day of April, it means that Western armies will drive East and establish military bases there. If the first of April happens to be a Sunday, then March will be a month of great fear and disturbances in the East, meanwhile, a conflict between the Western armies will end by the death of a Western leader and the defeat of his army. If the dream is seen on the eleventh day of April, it may mean that earthquakes or cyclones will devastate many countries. If the dream takes place on the thirteenth day of April, then it means that inflation will strike and price hiking will burden the common people. If the dream is seen on the seventeenth day of April, it purports a major political dispute between the leaders of the world, and if it is seen on the twenty second day of April, it means that a disastrous evil will contaminate many societies. If the dream takes place on the twenty third day of the month of April, it means abundance, falling prices, fertility in the lands, while if it is seen on the twenty fifth day of April, it will mean price hiking. Market The unspecified market refers to the mosque and vice versa, because man trades and earns in both.39 It also refers to the battlefield, where some people win and others lose. In the Holy Quran, God has used the word commerce as a synonym for Jihad (holy struggle): “O ye who believe! Shall I show you a commerce that will save you from a painful doom?” (“Al-Saff’ [The Ranks], verse 10.) Likewise, the souk or marketplace could allude to the person’s luck commensurate with the size of the market; the learning institution; the asylum; and the pilgrimage season. The meat market, in particular, symbolizes the war zone. The jewel and the cloth markets represent commemoration ceremonies and learning establishments. The money changers market is a reference to the ruler’s court, where people weigh what they say and matters are evaluated carefully. Sometimes souks represent lies, injustice, worries, and misery. They allude as well to the sea, where the big fish eat the small fish, and to compulsory spending, as often brought about by spouses, or marriage itself, and the birth of new children. Indeed, each specific market has a different interpretation. But it is noteworthy that the Muslims Holy Prophet was said to consider the souk as the abode of devils.
