Ruby • Wearing a green ruby ring: Wife will give birth to a bright, pious, and knowledgeable boy.
• Receiving a ruby: The dreamer will marry a pretty lady.
• A bachelor wishing to get married dreaming of taking or receiving a ruby: He will marry a beautiful and pious woman in view of the Quranic verses: “In them will be (maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no man or jinn before them has touched; then which of them favours of your Lord will ye deny?—Like unto rubies and coral.” (“Al-Rahman” [God, the Most Gracious], verses 56–58.)
• Getting from the sea or riverbed heaps of rubies: Plenty of rubies: (1) A reference to money. (2) An additional province for the ruler. (3) More learning for the scholar. (4) Business for the trader.

Shirt A wet shirt in a dream means obstacles in one's travels. If one's wet shirt dries in the dream, it means that his hurdles have been removed. Wearing a shirt without a collar, a pocket, buttons, or button holes in a dream means wearing one's shroud at the time of his preparation for burial. Wearing a shirt with stripes in a dream means travels, or it could mean performing a pilgrimage. Wearing a shirt that does not properly cover one's body in the dream means falling short in performing one's religious duties. Wearing a black shirt in a dream means sorrow, distress and worries. Garment Wearing a blue garment in a dream means distress and difficulties. Wearing a patterned garment of mixed colors in a dream means being reprimanded by one's superior. It also could represent a flower merchant. Wearing a double sided coat means duplicity and affectation. A washed garment in a dream means poverty and indebtedness. Wearing a brocaded garment in a dream means attending a pilgrimage. Otherwise, if the person qualifies, it means controlling interests in a farmland, or it may represent a good harvest for that year. Crown For a Muslim, a crown in a dream represents the Holy Quran, knowledge, prosperity or marriage to a wealthy woman. Wearing a crown in a dream means begetting a son, moving into a new city or forcing an enemy to retreat. If a woman sees herself wearing a crown in a dream, it means marriage to a noble and a high ranking person. If she is married and pregnant, it means she will beget a son. If a prisoner sees himself wearing a crown in a dream, it means that he will be released from jail and regain his dignity. Wearing a crown studded or inlaid with gems in a dream is better than wearing a plain golden crown. Wearing a golden crown in a dream is also a bad omen. Mouse The mouse symbolizes the dreamer’s household: those who dwell in his house—his wife and children, et cetera—a debauched woman, or, some say, a devilish Jewish woman or a Jew, as related by Al-Nabulsi. It could also refer to a thief. Many mice means profit and welfare. Mice of the same color allude to women. The rat is a digging thief.
• Dreaming of a mouse playing in one’s house: Prosperity will increase because, according to the ancient Arabs, mice invade only those places that are prosperous. And only people who are not hungry can afford to play.
• Seeing mice in one’s house: Dangerous women will enter that house.
• A mouse leaving one’s house: Livelihood and blessings will decrease.
• Owning a mouse: Will have a servant because, like servants, mice share the food of the master.

Nail Human nails symbolize the person’s power in this world. Proportionate nails indicate piety and wise living. White nails mean that the dreamer has the ability to grasp and memorize very quickly. Long and beautiful nails mean money, clothes, the preparation of weapons to face the enemies, or the mustering of evidence and money to confront them and ward off their evil. The metallic nail that one knocks with a hammer represents a prince, a successor, or a man who helps people achieve their aims. It is also a harbinger of marriage. Many nails is a sign of power and benefits. Many nails is an allusion to soldiers and aides or to people who befriend debauchees. They could also refer to a limited amount of silver coins or money. Swallowing nails means that the dreamer is repressing his anger.

Beard • Having a white, shining beard: Will have power and prestige and be well noted in the country, as, according to Ibn Siren, Abraham’s beard was white.
• The beard becoming hoary or gray: Prestige and respectability.
• The beard graying and then turning completely white: Will become poor and unheeded. A black-bearded young man told Ibn Siren he dreamed that his beard had turned completely white and that he was trying to dye it, to no avail, as the dye wouldn’t hold. The interpreter replied that his fortune was declining and that he was trying to conceal this fact, in vain, which he admitted.
• Having a jet-black or pitch-black beard: Will grow prosperous and self-sufficient, especially if the black was greenish, in which case it would mean tremendous wealth and authority coupled with tyranny, as that was said to be the color of the hair of Moses pharaoh. Earrings If a woman sees herself wearing a pair of silver earrings in a dream, it means that she will conceive a son who will grow to be a pious man. If they are made from pearls, then her future son will sing with music. As for an unmarried woman, wearing a pair of earrings in a dream means marriage. If one sees a child wearing a pair of earrings in a dream, it represents beauty, though it is not praiseworthy if an adult or a man is seen in a dream wearing a pair of earrings or even a single earring. In their case, it means engaging in a loathsome and disgraceful action. Wearing a pair of earrings in a dream also means acquiring a knowledge that exalts the person and raises him in station. Banner If the banners are black in the dream, they mean that one will meet a man of knowledge. If the banners are white, then they represent a jealous person who will never be married. If they are yellow, they represent an epidemic disease. If they are green, they mean a journey by land. A banner or a flag in a dream also means that one will be wrapped in ambiguity in relation to a particular matter and he will not find a way out. If one sees a flag and a brigade in a dream, it means that he will be able to find his way through the difficulties and overcome his sadness and adversities. Beard For a man, a beard in a dream signifies wealth, honor and dignity. If it is moderately long or well trimmed in the dream, it means earning respect, rising in rank, prosperity, beauty and sovereignty. If only the sides of one's beard are long and not the middle section in the dream, it means that one will work to save money for someone else. If one's beard is too long and lacks proper trimming in a dream, it means indebtedness, distress and suffering from depression. If it becomes long to the extent of reaching the floor in the dream, it means death. If one's beard grows long and thick in a dream, it means longevity or increase in one's wealth. Donkey The donkey symbolizes man’s endeavours and luck, commensurate with its weight and size. Only the braying of that animal is seen as a bad omen.
• A fat donkey: Money for the owner.
• A lean donkey: Poverty of the owner.
• A tall donkey: Man’s prestige.
• A beautiful donkey: The dreamer will look better.
• A white donkey: The dreamer is pious and has a certain style.
• A black donkey: Joy, sovereignty, awe, and majestic power. The donkey was Ibn Siren's favourite animal and black his favourite color (for dreams).

Turkish bath If one sees himself as the attendant of a Turkish bath facility or a bathhouse, and if he stood by and did not serve the customers in the dream, it means that he is a pimp and a bastard who brings benefits to no one but rather wrath. If one sees himself wearing a white uniform and serving people in a dream, it means that he washes people's hearts and dispels their trouble. Public bath in itself denotes many meanings. Wool Wool symbolizes plenty of money, like any woollen, hairy, cotton, or linen clothes.
• Sleeping on wool: Will obtain money from a woman or through her.
• Wool burning: Corrupt religious faith and possible bankruptcy.
• A scholar wearing wool: Will become ascetic.
• A dog wearing wool: A mean person is receiving money from an honest man.
• A lion wearing wool: The ruler promotes justice and equity.

Coat of mail A coat of mail also represents one's son who is strong and capable, who suffices himself and helps his father. Wearing a coat of mail in a dream is a blessing and a favor one receives from a third party who will support him and defend him under all circumstances. Wearing one in a dream means protection for one's wife, properties and interests. If a woman sees herself wearing a coat of mail in a dream, it means a husband and protection. It also could mean a supporting brother, a compassionate son, money, clothing or strong supporters. Wearing a suit of mail in a dream also means having a strong son, or it could mean travels. Bodyguard (Agent; Escort; Secret service) A bodyguard in a dream represents someone who deceives people and leads them astray. If one sees his house filled with agents wearing white uniforms, it signifies glad tidings of recovering from an illness, or that he will escape from adversities and dispel his fears. If such agents in the dream are dressed in black uniforms, then they mean a sickness, distress or depression, and what they say during that dream also identifies their purpose. Bead (Also see Aqiq.) Beads symbolize a woman, a servant, a girl or a slave, money, politeness, shrewdness, procreation, and boys.
• Finding beads: (1) Money and gifts from God, as many gifts as beads. (2) A beneficial trip.
• Finding white beads: Will get a good servant who fears the wrath of God.
• Finding green beads: Will have a pious servant.
• Finding black beads: Will obtain the services of a nonreligious, corrupt, and unkind servant.

Black The color black in a dream means prosperity and happiness. In a dream, everything black represents money, dominion and power and particularly for those who are used to wearing black. Silver • If the earring is coupled with a sword: The dreamer will have a girl child. If the dreamer is a pregnant woman, she will give birth to a boy.
• A man wearing a twisted silver ring: Good deed. Unlike the case of a golden ring.
• Wearing a silver ring: Great joy and comfortable living.
• A silver girdle, belt, or sash: Justice will prevail in the area, as mintaqa in Arabic is used both for belt and district.
• Wearing anklets made of silver, especially a colored one: The dreamer will renew a deal with one’s brothers to regret it later on or perhaps will use a whip.

Beard Plucking one's facial hair or beard in a dream means wasting money. If one's beard and head is shaved in a dream, it means recovering from an illness, satisfying one's debts or dispelling sorrow and distress. Having an extraordinarily long beard that one can spin and weave as a cloth, then sells it in his dream means that he will forge a testimony. Clipping one's beard in a dream also means losing money. One's beard in a dream also represents his job, business, clothing, gains and losses. Cutting off the hair of one's beard with one's own teeth in a dream means sufferings, distress and trouble. Swearing by the honor of one's beard in a dream may denote either one's truthfulness or lies, his stinginess or generosity. One's beard in a dream also could represent his wife. Jew • Being a Jew means the dreamer will fail to perform the Muslim rites and, therefore, be punished by God while still alive and experience humiliation because, says Ibn Siren, those Jews who had committed an aggression by fishing on a Saturday (Sabbath day), thus transgressing the injunctions of God, were turned into apes. The story is narrated in chapter VII of the Holy Quran, titled “Al-Aaraf’ (The Heights), verses 163–67.34
