Beard If a farmer finds the hair of his beard black in a dream, it means that he should start harvesting his crop. A white beard could denote illness or frailty. If one's beard in wakefulness is gray and he sees its color black in a dream, it means strength, determination, firmness, certainty, having great energy and exuberance. If one's beard in his dream seems longer than the usual, it means being a spendthrift, wasting money, engaging in gambling and sporting games, or suffering from depression, or being troubled by circumstances. Honey Honey symbolizes legally inherited money, war spoils, or money from a partnership. For religious-minded persons it means the merits of piety, the beauty of religion, the reading of the Holy Quran, and philanthropy. For earthly individuals it means that they will obtain something without effort or some benefit (not much) by toiling. According to the Muslims Holy Prophet, honey refers to the sweetness of sex (Arabic ’osayla from asal, which is the word for honey). Certain interpreters say that it represents worries, unhappiness, and those who envy others for what they have and cast an evil eye on them, since honey attracts flies, wasps, and ants. Honey filtered by a process involving fire means relief from hardships, delivery of a child after the full duration of pregnancy, marriage after the legal delay following a previous marriage or the death of a previous spouse, money that has been purified through the payment of zakat (Muslim religious dues), knowledge devoid of heresy and doubts, or wisdom after aberration. Market • Stealing or cheating in buying and selling: Will indulge in the worst kind of theft, like that involving people’s bread. If a mujahid—involved in Jihad—will be caught and chained. If a pilgrim, will conquer the heart of a woman and enjoy making love to her. If a scholar, will give bad counsel, will pray the wrong way, will prostrate himself before the imam does, et cetera.
• Seeing a specific market full of people but with fire in it or a spring in its midst or seeing a nice breeze blowing in it or its shops filled with chopped straw: Good earnings for the merchants, but hypocrisy as well.
• The market looking empty and its people dead or the merchants feeling sleepy or looking dormant or the shops closed and cobwebs appearing here and there, even on the commodities: Stagnation and recession.

Dig • Going to a grave and digging the earth with one’s nails or trying to unearth the dead: Will probe the life of the dead dwelling in that grave to follow his pattern.
• Trying to unearth one’s body: The dreamer is a materialist, running after worldly matters, and will succeed only if he managed to disinter the corpse.
• An animal digging the earth or soil in one’s yard with its pawns or hooves: Beware of an enemy.
• Digging with one’s nails in an inappropriate place: The dreamer is after something very difficult.
• Digging a grave or a pit for oneself or somebody else: (1) Will build a house. (2) Will settle in that area.
• Digging a grave on a surface: Will live long.

Yusuf The prophet Yusuf (Joseph) talking to the dreamer or giving him something: Will become an expert in the interpretation of dreams, as well as history and its chronology.
• Seeing Yusuf: (1) The science of dream interpretation. (2) Kingship and succession. (3) The loss of one’s family, children, and other relatives. (4) A machination against the dreamer. (5) Drought and high prices, as was the case in his time.63 (6) Prison and release from prison. (7) Luck with women, as Yusuf is said to have been of an unequalled beauty. (8) Victory over the enemy, followed by a pardon. (9) An allusion to seas, rivers, and drainage facilities. (10) The transportation of the remains of dead persons from one country to another. (11) An outstanding miracle such as the one that happened to Yusuf’s father when he recovered his eyesight and he received the shirt sent to him by his son. (12) Will be the least lucky among his brothers, who will be so wicked as to let him go to jail, but he will then be saved by God, his brothers, will submit to his authority, and he will forgive them along with other enemies. Vessel • Riding in a vessel or being picked up by a vessel in the middle of the sea after being sure of drowning: (1) Will be saved from disease, atheism, poverty, debts, and worries. (2) Will get married or buy a slave girl who will satisfy you and save you the trouble of looking outside. (3) Will be freed from jail, unless the ship was not sailing, which would mean exactly the reverse.
• Sailing in a ship with the dead: Will be saved from fleshly temptations.
• Sailing in a vessel on the high seas: Will embark on a journey full of dangers. The farther the ship is from the shore, the more remote the dreamer’s relief will be.
• Reaching the shore and disembarking from the vessel: The dreamer will disobey God, in view of the Quranic verse: “And when they mount upon the ships they pray to Allah, making their faith pure for Him only, but when He bringeth them safe to land, behold! they ascribe partners (unto Him).” (“Al-Ankabut” [The spider], verse 65.) Jump • Jumping to cross a river, a pit, or a well, et cetera, and succeeding: A change for the better and will be saved from some evil and reach the safe shore very quickly.

Sperm • Owning a jar full of sperm: Will find a treasure.

• Yellow sperm: A male child who will be ill very often or who is full of disease.
• Red sperm: A boy whose life will be short.
• Black sperm: A boy who will become the master of his folk.
• A black semen or sperm coming from the wife’s vagina: She will give birth to a boy who will dominate his folk.
• Holding somebody else’s sperm in one’s hand: Someone else’s money will come to the dreamer.
• Fire coming out of a woman’s vagina (in lieu of semen): Will give birth to a tyrant.

Wearing Torn Garments If a person wears torn clothes while he is mending them it means his financial condition will improve. Also he is to acquire adequate sustenance. Egg • Eating eggshells: The dreamer is a graverobber.
• Dreaming that wife has laid an egg: She will give birth to an atheist, in view of Quranic verses addressed to atheists and comprising examples of God’s might and miracles, such as: “… he bringeth forth the dead from the living” (“Al-Rum” [The Romans], verse 19.)
• Putting an egg under a hen that cracks to give way to chicks: A dead matter will be revived, and a pious son will be born to the dreamer or as many sons as there were chicks, in view of the Quranic expression in the same verse: “He bringeth forth the living from the dead….”
• Placing eggs under a cock, which is hatched to give chicks: A tutor will arrive for the young boys.

Asylum But the sanatorium also alludes to entertainment, playing, joking, and irresponsible behaviour in society or in people’s occupations, as is the case with psychopaths. A mentally disturbed person would not mind parting from his children.

Bragging In a dream, bragging represents a tyrant, an unjust person, or an aggressor. If the person seen in a dream is already dead, it is a warning for his family. It also means failure to satisfy one's religious obligations. If the person noted in the dream is sick, then it means that he may be nearing his death. Palm Tree One palm tree is a reliable and powerful friend. It could also refer to an honest woman famous for her charity. The palm branches or leaves symbolize more children and progeny. They could also allude to women’s hair. Its clusters mean money in view of the Quranic verses: “And lofty date-palms with ranged clusters, provision (made) for men; and therewith We quicken a dead land.
